Hartford Courant, Hartford CT LAKE, Louise (Lister) TERRYVILLE LAKE, Louise (Lister) Louise (Lister) Lake, a lifelong resident of Terryville, widow if Irving Yale Lake passed away at the Royal Megansett Nursing Home in Falmouth, MA on Thursday (December 9, 1999). Mrs. Lake was born in Concord, MA on May 23, 1919, the daughter of the late Amos and Frances (White) Lister. She graduated from Terryville High School in 1937 and from the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. She began her secretarial career at New Departure in Bristol and served for many years as Legal Secretary to Attorney Emil Petke in Terryville. She served as delegate to the Republican State Nominating Convention, was member of the Plymouth Republican Town Committee and the Plymouth Board of Education. She was a member of the Inland-Wetlands Commission for many years. She was honored in 1992 by Tambrand International as Connecticut's Environmental Women of the Year. The award was presented at New York's Tavern of the Green in recognition of her hard work and dedication to the preservation of Plymouth's Open Spaces. Louise spent her summers from childhood to adulthood on Cape Cod, MA and resided at the Royal Mengansett Nursing Home for the past two years. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sallie Lake of Northhampton, MA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carroll and Jerry Rafaniello of Bristol, Kathleen and Barclay Shaw of Falmouth, MA; a granddaughter, Jessica Lake of New York City; four grandsons, Benjamin and Joseph Lake and Clay and Harrison Shaw; a sister, Ruth Grizzard of Petersburg, VA; a niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kristin Elizabeth Lake. The funeral will be held Wednesday Dec. 15, 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
