Wamego Times; Wamego KS; 2011-4-28 Luetta M. Lake, Manhattan, died April 19, 2011, in her home. She was born on August 25, 1935, at Wamego, daughter of Clarence Edwards Zarger and Loretta B (Cox) Zarger. She attended local schools, graduating from Manhattan High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Everett A Lake, October 5, 1953. He preceded her in death December 21, 1965. She was a homemaker for many years, then a longtime employee with USD 383, retiring from full time to part time as student records administer until 2010. Survivors include a brother, Clarence Zarger, Jrl; a sister, Mary Ellen Hagenmaier; children, Karen Davis, Steve Lake, Linda Pratt, Eddie Lake, Ilene Briggs, Barb Brown, Ken Lake, Tom Lake, Debbie Swart and Randy Lake; 17 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great grandchild. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, in the United Methodist Church, Manhattan, the Rev. Kay Scarbrough officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at KSU or to the American Red Cross, in care of Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, Manhattan.
