Grants Pass Daily Courier; Grants Pass OR; 2008-9-26 Lulu Darlene 'Pat' Wells Former Grants Pass resident Lulu Darlene "Pat" Wells, 93, of Salem died Sept. 14, 2008. A funeral service was held at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors in Salem. The youngest of five children, she was born July 16, 1915, in Edgar, Neb., to Jessie and Sarah Maud Lake. When she was a child, her family moved by train to Topeka, Kan. In 1931, she married Wilbur C. Wells, who died in 1968. They moved from Kansas to San Diego in 1943. After World War II, they moved often while following construction jobs on the West Coast When in Oregon, they stayed in the Aumsville/Stayton area. In 1970, she met and married Roy E. Wells, who survives. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Oceanside, Calif., and spent more than 20 years traveling across the United States and around the world. In 1994, they moved to South Carolina to be near her daughter. In 1998, they moved to Grants Pass to live with another daughter. They moved to Farmington Square in Salem in 2005. After the death of her first husband, she became involved with the Grandmothers Club of California and was Californis's state chairman. She was a Christian and had been active in several churches where she enjoyed working in the nurseries. In addition to her husband, survivors include a son; David Wells of Salem; three daughters, Carole Blankenbaker of Grants Pass, Patricia Moody of Liberty, S.C., and Sharrie Morrow of Ashville, N.C. ; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
