Published in the Modesto Bee on July 20, 2010 Modesto, CA LYLE LAKE, SR. JAN 14, 1915 - JULY 15, 2010 Lyle Lake, Sr., 95 passed away peacefully after a long and happy life. He was the cherished husband of the late Betty Ann Lake. Beloved father of Barbara Lake and Lyle (Liz) Lake, Jr., grandfather of Hayme (Majken) Lake, Jason (Angela) Lake, Nathan Hawkins and Natalie Hawkins; adored great-grand- father of Marley Rae, Mateo, Leilani, and Miles. Lyle served his country during World War II as a Navy Seabee. After a letter writing courtship with his sweetheart, he married Betty Ann Millard and continued their courtship for 59 years. Also, he continued to play baseball for the Pacific Coast League and Alameda's Ben's Golden Glow. He was a loyal employee of Mobil Oil Corporation for 35 years. After retirement at 63, he enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, swimming, and the arts. Lyle had many friends and was loved by all. Our family wishes to thank the caregivers at Paramount Court in Turlock for the love and care they gave our father. He always made them smile. Visitation will begin today, July 20th at 4:00-8:30 PM with a Vigil/Rosary Service beginning at 7:00 PM at the Santos-Robinson Mortuary, 160 Estudillo Ave., San Leandro. The Funeral Liturgy will begtin at 10:30 AM at St. Leander Church, 550 West Estudillo Ave., San Leandro on Wednesday, July 21st with burial following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
