Peace River Block News, Dawson Creek BC MARGARET BASSETT Long time Peace River District resident Margaret BASSETT passed away at the Peace River Haven Care Home in Pouce Coupe, B.C. on January 9, 1992. Funeral services were held at South Peace United Church, Rev. READ officiating. Interment followed the service at the Dawson Creek City Cemetery. Margaret was born February 7, 1906 at Rushville, Illinois and moved to Canada with her parents in 1911. She grew up in the Blackfoot, Alberta area. Margart married Howard BASSETT in 1928 and moved to the Peace River Country in 1937 and settled on a farm in the Upper Cutbank area. Margaret taught school for about 20 years, mostly in the rural area. She was well known for her work with the Fall Fair and won many ribbons for her entries. Her last years were spent at Heritage Heights Senior Citizens Complex where she was one of the first residents. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Howard in 1964. She was also predeceased by her parents and two brothers: Vidus and Jimmie LAKE of Edmonton, Alberta. Margaret leaves to mourn her passing, her son Don BASSETT and family; daughter Willa FULLERTON and family; sister Hallie TRITT and family of Hope, B.C. and brother Delbert LAKE of Vanderhoof, B.C. She also leaves six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren along with other relatives. Margaret will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by family and all who knew her.
