Vancouver Sun; Vancouver BC Canada; 1999-11-17 LAKE, Margaret Elizabeth nee Awmack, passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Centre in Burnaby, BC 14 Nov 1999 at the age of 86. Margaret was born in Cranbrook, BC 12 Aug 1913 and spent most of her childhood in the Kimberly area. As a young adult she attended the Vancouver Art School now the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. During that time she met and married her husband George Harold Lake. Margaret's love of art never ceased. She continued to create paintings and pottery throughout her life. She taught art classes in a variety of community settings. In her retirement years as a master gardener she shared her love of gardening with her husband. Margaret leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 60 years, George Harold Lake, son George Howard (Delores) Lake, daughters Margaret Louise (Joe) Selby and Gertrude Mae Lake, grandchildren Lyle (Monica) Dunn, Karl (Jody) Dunn, Karen (Llyod) King, Shawna Manfron, Benjamin Dunn, James Manfron, great-granddaughters Leslie, Jessica, Sarah, Yvonne and Victoria, a brother Joseph (Winnifred) Awnack, sister Phyllis (Ernest) Hatch and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Margaret's life will be held at West Burnaby United Church, 6050 Sussex Abve., Burnaby BC., on Friday 19 Nov 1999 at 2 pm. Her love and kindness towards life will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched. The family wants to express their sincerest and heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Michael's Centre. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer Society of BC at 20-601 West Cordova, Vancouver BC. V6B 1G1 will be appreciated.
