Bristol (RI) Phoenix for 22 April 1999: Margaret Lake Worked at County Cleaners Margaret (Travers) Lake, 79, of 1014 Hope St and formerly of Pagnano Street, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Waldo N Lake. Born in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late John A and Margaret (Bernard) Travers. A resident of Bristol most of her life, Ms Lake previously resided in East Providence for several years. She worked for her brother, John Travers, for 20 years at his County Cleaners on State Street, before retiring in 1979. She also worked for many years as a stone cutter for Coro Jewelry Co in Providence. Ms Lake was a communicant of St Elizabeth's Church and was a former CCD teacher when she was a young woman. She was a member of Hope Circle 70, Daughters of Isabella. She leaves two sons, Sheldon M Lake of Warren and Robert N Lake of Bristol; two daughters, June Santos and Janet Lake, both of Bristol; two brothers John Travers of Bristol and George Travers of Keys, Fla; five grandsons, Paul D Santos and Robert S Lake of East Providence, Michael S Lake of Attleboro Falls, Mass, Rodney S Santos of Bristol and David S Lake of Warren; three stepgrandsons, Joseph and William Mojkowski of Bristol and Robert Mojkowski of Smithfield, and two great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Santos and a brother, Joseph Travers. Funeral services were held Tuesday from Sansone Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial in St Elizabeth's Church. The Rev John W O'Brien was the celebrant for the Mass. Burial followed in the North Burial Ground, where Father O'Brien read the committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Paul D Santos, Rodney S Santos, Robert S Lake, David S Lake, her great-grandson, Jason S Santos, and her nephew, Scott J Travers. Mrs. Lake was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church, and a former CCD teacher. She was a member of Hope Circle 70, Daughters of Isabella. She leaves two sons, Sheldon M. Lake of Warren and Robert N. Lake of Bristol; two daughters, June Santos and Janet Lake, both of Bristol; a sister, Hilda Grandfield of Somerset; two brothers, John Travers of Bristol and George Travers of Keys, Fla.; five grandsons;three stepgrandsons; two great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. She was a sister of the late Mary Santos and Joseph Travers. The funeral will be Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Elizabeth Church, Wood Street. Burial will be in the North Burial Ground.
