Published in the Contra Costa Times on 9/4/2003. Contra Costa County, CA Margaret Markham McMichael Lake Margaret Markham McMichael Lake was born July 1, 1912 in Fort Worth, Texas. She died August 16, 2003 in Pleasanton, California. During Margaret's long life she was very active in the Southern Baptist Church. She was assistant Women's Missionary Union Director for Costa Meda Association in Northern California, as well as Women's Missionary director for the Parkway Baptist Church in Dublin and in Pleasanton. Margaret's association with the Southern Baptist Church began in Texas as a child. She was also very active in the political process. As a member of the National Democratic Caucus, she was privileged to attend the inauguration of President William Jefferson Clinton in January of 1993. She was also a member of the local Democratic Club of California. Margaret lived in Reno, Nevada for some 20 years, from 1970 until 1990. During that time, she was president of the American Business Women's Association several times, and Woman of the Year for that organization. Still active in the political process, she ran for the Nevada Assembly in the mid 1980's. Margaret began playing the organ at the age of 50 and excelled. She played as stand in for the regular church organist when she was needed. Playing the organ gave her many hours of great pleasure. She is survived by her daughter,Elaine Bonham and son-in-law, James of Pleasanton; son Ron McMichael and daughter-in-law Sharon of San Juan Capistrano. Margaret also leaves four grandchildren - Jeni, Jim, John, and Chelsea, and a great grandson, Jordan. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 557 Olivina, Livermore, California, Saturday, September 6, at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas. Lake, Margaret Markham McMichael, 91, of Pleasanton, died August 16. She was very active in the political process. Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 6, 3pm at Trinity Baptist Church in Livermore.
