Quad-City Times; Davenport IA; 2003-12-5 Margaret Lake December 5, 2003 BETTENDORF -- Margaret W. Lake, a resident of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Crest Health Center, Davenport. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf, where she was a member. Interment will be private. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Bettendorf Family Museum of Arts and Sciences or WVIK Augustana Public Radio, Rock Island. Margaret was born Jan. 13, 1931, in Streator, Ill., the daughter of Orlando and Alice (Moore) Weld. She was united in marriage to Norman P. Lake on Jan. 27, 1952, in Streator. She began her employment with the City of Bettendorf as a payroll clerk, retiring as transit director on Jan. 6, 1995, after 27 years of faithful service. Margaret was a faithful volunteer at Bettendorf Family Museum of Arts and Sciences and was a recipient of the Mary Larson Volunteer of the Year Award. In addition, she devoted many hours at WVIK Public Radio, where she read for the blind. She also enjoyed caring for her flowers, gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Those left to honor her memory include her beloved husband, Norman, her daughters and son-in-law, Paula and Tom Stanger, of Davenport, and Jean Lake, of Bettendorf, her grandchildren, Alanza Lake-Herrera, and her husband, Derek Seliger, Emil Lake-Herrera, Allison Stanger and Kelsey Stanger, and her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Margery Weld, of Flanagan, Ill.
