Marguerite G. Lake, 82, went to be with the Lord April 15, 2007. She was
born Feb. 9, 1925, in South Carolina to the late James and Maggie Goodman.
Her hobbies were her garden, art, sewing and her Bible. Marguerite was
preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Robert I.
Lake Sr. She was also predeceased by her son, Robert I. Lake Jr.; brother,
James Goodman Jr.; and sister, Betty Janata. Left to cherish her memory
are her daughter, Connie L. Ballard and husband Steve of Florida;
daughter-in-law, Josie Lake of Norfolk; grandchildren, Todd and Niki
Ballard and Robbie, Cody and Tyler Lake; great-granddaughter, Payton
Ballard; brother-in-law, James Janata; sister-in-law, Jodha Goodman;
and nephew, Ross Goodman. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in
Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. William
Joseph Shepherd. The family will receive friends in the funeral home
Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.  prior to services. Burial will be in Forest
Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
