SKAGIT VALLEY HERALD Mount Vernon WA April 20, 2006 MARIAN L. GOAN Marian L. Goan, 89, a resi-dent of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 18, 2006. She was born in Broadview, Montana on March 9, 1917, the daughter of Benjamin & Ada Bannister Lakin. In 1931 the family moved to Albion, WA and there Marian was raised and attended school. She graduated from Eastern Washington State College with a teaching degree and taught grade school at La Cross, WA for 3 years until accepting a teaching position with the Shoreline School District, teaching second and third grades in the Edmonds area. She retired in the early 1980's with over 40 years of teaching and learning. She was united in marriage to Louis Goan and together they made their home in Edmonds until his death in 1998, at which time she moved to Sedro-Wool-ley to be near her family. Marian was a member of the Washington Teachers and the Retired Teachers Associations and she was also active in Toast Masters. Leisure time found her sewing and visiting with children, family and friends. She is survived by her 3 step-children, Shirley & Glen Lat-ting of Sedro-Woolley and Bill Goan and Tom & Sandy Goan of Vancouver Island, Canada; 1 sister, Dorothy Warner of Pull-man, WA; and several step-grandchildren, great-grandchil-dren, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Adrian. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Assoc. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Se-dro-Woolley.
