MARION PETERSON
                 ASHEVILLE - Marion L. Peterson, 87, of River Ridge Drive,
                 died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Hospice Solace Center.

                 A native of Kansas City, Kan., she was the daughter
                 of the late William P. Lake and Constance Hiatt Lake
                 and wife of the late Grant W. Peterson. Mrs. Peterson
                 was a retired school teacher with the Osceola County
                 School System in Kissimmee, Fla.; a member of Phi Beta
                 Kappa Honor Society; a published writer and editor;
                 and was a volunteer with Helpmate for several years.

                 Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Winnie
                 and Dean Strahm of Arden, Jeannie and Ron Miller of
                 Aurora, Colo.; one son and his wife, Donald and Maggie
                 Peterson of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren
                 and one great-grandson.

                 A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at
                 New Hope Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Anne and David
                 Morgan will officiate.
