Born February 8, 1911, in Falmouth, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Mary Jane (Beaver) Patterson. Martha lived her life in Falmouth, Hantsport, Halifax, Kempt Shore and Windsor. She was an active gardener and she also loved to Crochet and sew in her earlier days. She was very instrumental and proud of having the Kempt United Church in Kempt designated as a Heritage property. She was also a dedicated worker for the Hants Shore Health Clinic. She and her late husband devoted a lot of time to obtaining a garbage pick up for the Shore area. She was very generous to everyone. Surviving are step-daughter, Joyce (Jim) Campbell, Moncton; step-grandchildren, David Campbell, Winnipeg; Debbie Campbell, Saint John; Sandra Bowes, Saint John; three step-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Tracey, Hants Border. She was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Lake and second husband, James Sherwood; brothers, George, Gerald and Larry Patterson; sister, Annie Walker. No visitation by request. Funeral service 2 p.m. today, January 23, 2001, in Kempt United Baptist Church, Summerville, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Burial in Kempt Cemetery, Kempt Shore.
