MARTHA S. BRADNER Bethlehem, Pa. and Middletown, N.Y. Martha S. Bradner, a retired teacher having taught at Linden Avenue School in Middletown and as a substitute teacher afterwards, and a 2-year resident of Bethlehem, Pa., and a lifelong resident of Middletown, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at Hospice of VNA at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. She was 91. Martha was born on March 11, 1912 in Middletown to Walter and Leah Knapp Stevens. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Middletown for over 80 years. She was a choir member, former church clerk, former member of the Board of Deacons, and former Sunday school teacher of the First Baptist Church. She was a member and past worthy matron of Queen Esther Chapter 163 Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Chaminade Women's Choir, former board member of Southwinds Retirement Home and former of Home for Aged Women. She was also a member of the New York State Teachers Association. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Bailly and her husband, Jack, of Albany, and Judy Williams and her husband, Dick, of Bethlehem, Pa.; five grandchildren, Janet and her husband, Woodrow Lake, Roberta and her husband, Frank Cook, Jonathan and his wife, Carrie Williams, and Wendy and Jennifer Williams; five great grandchildren, Melissa, Kimberly, Shaun, Christopher and Sarah. She was predeceased by her husband, Alton F. Bradner on August 2, 1998; and her sister, Ruth. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 4 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cornelius, Dodd and Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown. Eastern Star services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 11 Mulberry Street, Middletown. The Rev. John Marr will officiate. Interment will be in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
