Richmond Times-Dispatch 11/13/2000 Richmond VA BERG Mary Ann Berg, 80, formerly of Washington, D.C., died November 11, 2000 at the Hermitage. Her husband, Rev. Otto B. Berg; a son, Laurence M. Berg; and a brother, George Laken, preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, David W. Berg, and daughter-in-law, Diane H. Berg of Richmond; two sisters, Josephine Verschay, of Greenwood, Wis. and Helen Dergance of Hillside, Ill. She was born in Neillsville, Wis. and lost her hearing at age five due to influenza. She graduated from Worchell High School and attended the Wisconsin School for the Deaf. She worked as a clerk for Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee, during World War II. After marrying and raising a family, she returned to work for the U.S. Library of Congress, retiring in 1986 after a 20-year career. As wife of the minister of St. Barnabas Mission of the Deaf, she was involved in many church activities. A memorial service will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 W. Huguenot Rd.
