Byron Globe, Fri., Apr. 1, 1887 article: Port Byron Rock Is Co IL Cordova: the funeral of Mrs. John Marshall was Sunday at the Baptist Church here. She died in Sauk Rapids, Minn. She leaves a large family. Mary Eleanor Larison Cool, dau. of Wm and Eliz Larison Cool was born 9 July 1819 at Princeton, NJ. She came west with the Marshall and Sexton Families in 1838; they had left their native place on May 22nd and arrived at Cordova on 16 July, making the whole journey by wagon. The company consisted of 21 persons, 10 of whom are still living. She was one of a family of 5 children. Both parents are now dead and of the children, only 2 survive: JL Cool (the oldest) & Isaac Cool (the youngest). She mar. John Marshall on 12 Sept., 1840 and they had 12 children, 9 of whom survive: Mrs. Joe Cranston of Sauk Rapids, Minn; Samuel Marshall of Sauk Rapids; Edward Marshall of Burlingame, Osage Col, Kansas; Mres. DeWitt Ege of Menlo, Iowa; Mrs. Chas. Wells of Menlo, Iowa; Jerome Marshall of near Albany, Ill.; Harmon Marshall of Cordova Twsp., robert Marshall of Cordova Twsp & Horace Marshall of Cordova Twsp. Mrs. Marshall had resided her until 4 yrs. ago. She died Mar. 23, 1887 at age 67 yrs. , 8 mos., 14 days. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Cordova. She was baptized by the Rev. Asa Prescott on 13 Mar. 1861.
