Times-Herald Middleton, NY 17 Sep 2008 Mary P. Kiernan Formerly of Cornwall, NY Mary P. Kiernan, formerly of Cornwall, NY, passed away on September 10, 2008 at the age of 90. She was born March 26, 1918 in Little Falls, NY to Charles and Mary Malone. Mary graduated from St. Mary's High School, Little Falls, NY and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, NY. She enlisted in the US Army and deployed on the hospital ship USS Aleda Lutz. She saw duty in the African/Middle Eastern, European, and Asia/Pacific Theatres of Operation before being discharged as a Captain, US Army, back at USMA West Point NY. It was while stationed at West Point that she met her husband, Thomas P. Kiernan. They were married in Little Falls, NY on May 3, 1947. She worked for years as a Registered Nurse at The Cornwall Hospital and in the office of Dr. Myron Charlap. Mary was a parishioner of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, a member of the Court Rita CDA and the Altar Rosary Society. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas P. Kiernan in 1990 and sister, Jane Petrie. She is survived by brothers, Joseph and Charles Malone; sister, Ann Morgan; children, Susan Hershberger, Mary P. Kiernan, Jerry Kiernan and wife Vicki, Thomas Kiernan and wife Mary, and eight grandchildren. Mary donated her body to medical science at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY. A memorial Mass will be held in the future at the convenience of the family. "Grieve notnor speak of me with tearsbut laugh and talk of me as though I were beside you.
