She was born on March 5,1942 in Kalamazoo, MI., the daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Lake. Marylyn was a Professor of Special Education at Eastern Michigan University for 34 years. She was a member of numerous professional organizations, and previously was a teacher for the Birmingham Public Schools. Marylyn is survived by her sister Barbara (Stanton) Smart; niece and nephew, Elizabeth Huber and Matthew Smart; cousins, David and Gloria Lake and their children; Uncle Lewis (Louisa) Lake and Aunt Rosetta Oosta and her children. She is also survived by numerous friends and colleagues. A memorial visitation will be held on Sun day March 25, 2001 at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S Fourth Ave. from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Muehlig's on Monday, March 26, 2001 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Eastern Michigan University Foundation or to the charity of one's choice.
