Times-Union; Warsaw IN; 2011-10-3 Maxine Lake, 88, of 10958 E. Ind. 14, Akron, died at 6:36 a.m. Oct. 2, 2011, in her residence. She was born June 30, 1923, in Johnson County, Ky., to William Matthew and Laura Belle Caudill. On April 17, 1970, in Lawrenceville, Ill., she married William F. Lake, who died Dec. 5, 2008. She had been a nurse's aid working at Woodlawn Hospital and Miller's Nursing Home, both in Warsaw. She then provided private home care in Akron for a number of years. She was a member of Rochester Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxilliary, where she was a gold star mother. A passion for antiques, she would always be looking for things to add to her collection over the years. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (and spouse Gary) Johnson, Fort Wayne, and Kay (and spouse Jack) Bonner, Fletcher, N.C.; two sons, Scott (and spouse Sandra) Fairchild, Fort Wayne, and Mark (and spouse Diana) Fairchild, Lewisville, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Fairchild, who died in Vietnam in 1969, three sisters and six brothers. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery. Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
