The Chronicle-Herald, Volume 55, Number 124 Halifax NS Canada Monday, May 26, 2003 LAKE, Melba Mahalia - 72, Cambridge, Hants Co., went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born April 13, 1931, in Cambridge, she was a daughter of the late Haddon B. Spearing and Kathleen E. (Wheadon) Spearing. Melba was in faithful fellowship with the Christians gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in Cambridge, and had an extended family of brothers and sisters in Christ. Melba was a person who was greatly loved and respected by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She loved the beach, her flower gardens and the beautiful outdoors. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Percy; sons, David (Anne), Fredericton, N.B.; Tim (Shirley), Cambridge; Henry (Paula), Cambridge; foster son, Roger Martin, Ontario; daughters, Sandra Wilcox, Sudbury, Ont.; Elaine (Gary) Redden, Kempt Shore; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Carmen Wilson, Cambridge; brother, Keith (Marie) Spearing, Cambridge; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant son Percy Matthew Lake; sister, Eleanor Blaxland; brother, Darahel Spearing. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Lindsay's Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the chapel, Wade LeBlanc of St. Stephen's, N.B. officiating.
