Casper Star Tribune; Casper WY; 2007-7-10 Michael Paul Lake EVANSTON - Funeral services for Michael Paul Lake, 52, will be conducted on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Elm Street LDS Chapel. Interment will follow services at the Evanston Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Evanston Second Ward LDS Church on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again one hour prior to services on Thursday. He died July 8, 2007, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 17, 1954, in Evanston, the son of Keith J. and Mariel Morgan Bishop. He married Susan Welling on April 30, 1976, in the Logan LDS Temple, in Logan, Utah. He spent his working career as the purchasing manager and general services manager for the City of Evanston. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. He held several positions within the church, including bishop, high council, scoutmaster and various other callings. He was a member of the Uinta County Weed and Pest Board, served with the Evanston Youth Athletics, a past member of the Evanston Fire Department, and served as a little league baseball officer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, fly tying, all sports and coaching young athletics. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of Evanston, sons and their wives, Brent Lake of Douglas and Steven Lake of Cheyenne; daughters, Julie Young and her husband of Spanish Fork, Utah, Jenny Bebel and her husband of Springville, Utah, and Nicole Lake of Evanston; seven grandchildren; his mother, Mariel Timperley of Evanston; his in-laws of Evanston; a brother, Kelly Lake and his wife of Green River and a sister, Lis Gilpin and her husband of Evanston. He was preceded in death by his father and two stepfathers, his grandparents and his maternal grandparents. Kenneth and Maud Morgan; one niece and two nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home of Evanston.
