Lufkin TX Crowson, Dr. Michelle Rene' Lake Memorial services for Dr. Michelle (Missy) Rene' Lake Crowson, 45, of Lufkin, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2006, at Lufkin's First Baptist Church, with Reverend Andy Pittman officiating. Missy was born October 7, 1960 in Houston, Texas, and she passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 in Lufkin, Texas, following an incredibly brave six-year battle with breast cancer. "Dr. Missy" was Director of Student Activities and Counselor at Angelina College and for many years was the Pom Squad director. She was a 1979 graduate of Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena, Texas and a 1983 graduate of Texas A & M University, where she was a member of Delta Zeta. Missy held a Master of Arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a second Master of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University. She earned an Educational Doctorate from Sam Houston State University and was a proud member of Cohort V. Missy was a member of the Junior League of Lufkin, where her accomplishments included the "Waltz Across Texas" Charity Ball and being instrumental in reviving "the Follies". She was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church and numerous professional organizations. Missy is survived by her husband, George M. Crowson, Jr. of Lufkin and her daughter Callie, presently attending Texas A & M University. Also surviving are her mother, Gloria Lake of Lufkin; father, Joe Lake of Deer Park; sister, Beth and husband Steven of Bryan; and grandfather, Clifton O. Lake. Additional survivors are her in-laws, George and Barbara Crowson of Lovelady; sister-in-law, Allyson Herbst and husband Eric of Angleton; grandmother-in-law, Pauline Evans of Lovelady; nieces, Shelbee Elkins of Kingwood and Hanna Herbst of Angleton; one nephew, Jake Herbst of Angleton; and several aunts and uncles. Missy was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by a host of friends and co-workers. Her passion for life was unequaled on this earth.
