Mildred L. Kongdon Mildred L. Kongdon, 86, of Vermillion, Ohio, formerly of Cortland-Mecca, Ohio, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at the Kingston Nursing Home in Vermillion. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the Greene Church of the Nazarene with burial in the Vienna Township Cemetery in Vienna, Ohio. Shafer-Winans Funeral Home of Cortland will direct. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, in the parlor of the Shafer-Winans Funeral Home in Cortland, Ohio and from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the Greene Church of the Nazarene in Vienna, Ohio. She was born August 26, 1914 in Carbon Hill. She lived for many years in the Cortland-Mecca, Ohio area and was employed in quality control at Kennametal and a cook at Boyds Home in Kinsman, Ohio. She was a member of the Greene Church of the Nazarene and a member of SCOPE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Birdsill Kongdon; daughter, Frances Alverta Brown; her parents, James and Artie Lee Wilson Lakey; three brothers, Carrol Lakey, Odell Lakey and Ted Lakey; and sister, Dawn Black. She is survived by two daughters, Artie Sue Pisanelli of Parma, Ohio and Betty Jane Lytle of Amherst, Ohio; two sons, James Levi Stanford of Amherst, Ohio and George Herbert Stanford of Greene, Ohio; one brother, James Harvey Lakey of Sumiton; one sister, Jimmie Tolbert of Jasper; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
