Born in North Troy, Vt., and schooled in Ludlow, she was a communicant of the former Grace Church in Holy- oke. Her husband, Eugene Smola, died in 1967. She leaves four daughters, Arlene LaRocque of Springfield, Lorraine Stone of Columbus, Miss., Jean Cuipenski of Holiday, Fla., and Linda Chambrin of St. Louis, Mo.; six grand- children; and eight great-grandchildren.
