Former Resident, Mrs. Stephen Vernon, Dies In California

  Mrs. Stephen C. Vernon, 26, Rialto, Calif., passed away on Thursday,
May 20, at San Bernadino Hospital.
  She was born July 23, 1949, at Dodgeville, Wis., and was the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence (Larry) Lake, Pengilly, Minn.  She attended the
schools in Iron River and graduated from the Iron River High School. Mrs.
Vernon attended the University of Michigan and received a B.S. in nursing
and had worked in several hospitals in California.
  Surviving are her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lake;
two brothers, William, Nashwauk, Minn., and Larry, Pengilly; one sister,
Sharon, Rochester, Minn.; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Henna Hooli,
Ironwood and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kinney,
Lancaster, Wis.
  Funeral services were on Thursday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at the Ketola
Funeral Home, Ironwood, Mich., with the Rev. V.A. Puotinen officiating.
  Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
