Bremerton Sun; Bremerton WA; 2005-5-6 Jean Durkee, 74 May 6, 2005 Jean Durkee January 24, 1931 May 2, 2005 Myrla Jean Durkee, 74, of Bremerton died Monday from complications of lung cancer while traveling through Kingman, Ariz. She was born in Afton, Wyo., to Ray and Myrle (Walton) Lake. On June 28, 1947, she married John Mussman and they had three daughters. After their marriage ended, she married John Ury, who passed away in 1977. On Dec. 17, 1989, she married Albert Durkee. Mrs. Durkee's adult life was centered in Bremerton. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Eagles and the Elks Travel Club. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and traveling with her husband in their motorhome. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Patricia and her husband, Chuck, Linda and Vickie; stepchildren, Albert and his wife, Margaret, and Christena and her husband, George; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Geri, Ruby, Roxie, Phyllis, Cleone and Peggy. Her brother, Michael, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the LDS church in Bremerton, with a reception following. She was the wife of Albert W. Durkee, formerly of Acton. She was born in Afton, Wyo. to Ray P. Lake and Myrle Walton Lake. Most of her adult life was centered in Bremerton, Wash. In recent years she made Yuma, Ariz. her winter home. Mrs. Durkee was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Eagles and the Elks Travel Club. She and her husband traveled extensively in their motor home. In addition to her husband, survivors include: daughters Patricia Chan, Linda Baker, Vickie Baker, stepchildren Albert P. Durkee II and Christena Leslie, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving sisters include Geri Astle, Ruby Weaver, Roxie Bybee, Phyllis Stoddard, Cleone Wilde, and Peggy Chrisman. Her brother, Michael Brody, preceded her in death.
