From: GFL473@aol.com Obits of MYRTLE ELIZABETH RUGAR LAKE, first wife of William Henry Lake The Kingston Daily Freeman, Kingston, NY, July 12, 1917 The funeral of Myrtle Rugar Lake was held from the home of her mother, Mrs. Caroline Rugar, No. 66 Spruce Street, at 9 o'clock this morning and from St. Mary's Church at 9:30, where a high mass of requiem was sung by the Rev. Stephen Connelly, while within the chancel was seated the Very Rev. Dean Hickey, pastor of St. Mary's Church. In his eulogy Father Connelly paid a most beautiful tribute to the deceased, likening her death to the passing of the flowers in spring, she being but 25 years old. Mrs. Lake had a wonderful disposition and had endeared herself to all who knew her and her loss will be deeply felt by her many relatives and friends. The floral tributes were many and very beautiful. Besides her mother, Mrs. Caroline Rugar, she is survived by her husband William Lake, and two small children, Joseph aged 3 years, and Dolores, aged 22 months, two brothers, Charles at home and William of Hopewell, VA, two sisters, Jessie at home and Mrs. B. O. Clark of Hopewell, VA. The Rev. Father Connelly accompanied the remains to St. Mary's Cemetery, where they where laid to rest in a gray silk plush couch casket with antique silver trimmings. The bearers were Henry Kierman, Michael Mauer, Frank Jenks, Frank Steltz, Arthur Fox and Fred Sharp. The funeral arrangements were in charge of Grogan & Scherer.
