She was a library aide and secretary for special services at the Burlington Elementary School. Earlier, she was a claims supervisor for Country Companies Insurance Co. for 23 years in Kansas City, Kan., where she was a longtime resident. For the past seven years, she was a resident of the Jacobs Creek community in northwest Coffey County. Nancy Sue Lake, the daughter of Harold and Violet Weigant Lake, was born March 13, 1947, at Wathena. She married James L. Connor on Feb. 17, 1973, at Kansas City, Kan. Mrs. Connor was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church and the church choir. She is survived by her husband of Jacobs Creek; four stepchildren, Deborah Keyser and Deloris Green, both of Kansas City, Kan., John Connor in Iowa and Christopher Connor in Florida; her father, Harold Lake of Kansas City, Kan.; five sisters, Joyce Kloibert, Linda Lake, Velda Hearn and Myra Lake, all of Kansas City, Kan., and Dorothy Gonzales of Kansas City, Mo.; and seven grandchildren. Her mother died Jan. 28, 1998. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the United Methodist Church at Burlington. Burial will be in Strawn Cemetery at Jacobs Creek. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association may be sent to the funeral home. Other survivors include stepsons, John CONNOR, in Iowa, Christopher CONNOR, in Florida; stepdaughters, Deborah KEYSER and Deloris GREEN, both in Kansas City KS; her father, Harold LAKE, Kansas City KS; sisters, Joyce KLOIBERT, Linda LAKE, Velda HEARN and Myra LAKE, all in Kansas City KS and Dorothy SANCHEZ, Kansas City MO; and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30am Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Burlington. Burial will be in the Strawn Cemetery northwest of Burlington. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8pm Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Memorial contributions may be made to the America Diabetes Association.
