Fatally Injured Playing Baseball

Ogdensburg, July 23 - Newell B. Lake, while playing in a baseball game
here yesterday was fatally injured.  After batting a ball he started
for first base, but fell over a broken bat which had been carelessly
thrown on the ground.  The sharp end of the splintered bat entered his
side below the ribs passing upwards protruding from his neck.
