The Daily Journal, Vineland NJ Thursday, March 2, 2006 Norman "Pete" Robbins, 89 Lifelong farmer, member of Port Norris Baptist Church Norman "Pete" Robbins, 89, of Port Norris died Sunday morning, Feb. 26, 2006, at South Jersey Extended Care in Bridgeton after a lengthy illness. Born in Port Norris, he was a lifelong resident, and the son of the late Norman and Rachel McDaniels Robbins and the husband of Elizabeth Lore Robbins. Mr. Robbins was a farmer all his life. He farmed salt hay and vegetables, and was known as the "lima bean king of Port Norris." He was a member of Port Norris Baptist Church for 65 years. Surviving besides his wife are his children, Norman Robbins III of Port Norris, Emma Nichols of Dividing Creek, Eileen Berry-Bernhardt of Port Norris; a brother, Harry "Hap" Robbins of Port Norris; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Platter; three brothers, Willard "Bill", Charles "Chick" and Paul "Mack"; and four sisters, Mary Robbins, Maria "Zie", Eva Mayhew and Leah Cholerton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoffman Funeral Homes, 2507 High St., Port Norris. Interment will be at Haleyville Cemetery.
