Clovis News Journal; Clovis NM; 2003-12-26 Olive Alice Elliott Lake, 88, of Clovis died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, while residing at the Retirement Ranch in Clovis. She was born on June 5, 1915, in Osborne County, Kan., to Walter August Elliott and Georgia Ella McNeal Elliott. She was married to George Marvin Lake on June 10, 1934. Mrs. Lake was a homemaker and pastor's wife for more than 40 years as she served with her husband in churches in Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Mississippi. She and her husband George spent the last two years of their active ministry serving on a mission station in Papua, New Guinea. She was preceded in death by her husband and by one son. Survivors include three daughters and a son, Marilyn Watkins of Oklahoma City, Alice Wycoff of Princeton, Texas, Joyce Burch of Clovis and Jerrold Lake of Gardner, Kan.; two sisters, Catherine Johnson of Davis, Calif. , and Lelia Huxman of Lancaster, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Cole Cemetery north of Waldo, Kan. Arrangements are under the direction of Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Memorial contributions may be made for the ongoing mission work of the Nazarene church of Papua, New Guinea. These contributions can be made to the Clovis First Church of the Nazarene which will forward them to the mission work.
