Montgomery Herald; Montgomery WV; 2006-1-6 Prudence Hall Lake, 86, of Pratt, died Dec. 31, 2005, in Montgomery General Hospital. Born Aug. 10, 1919, the daughter of the late Harvey and Edith Tucker Hall, Prudence grew up in Cannelton. After completing high school, she worked in Montgomery where she met H.E. 'Pete' Lake, whom she married in 1945 and with whom she moved to Handley. In 1949, their only child, Sharon, was born and, in 1961, the family moved to Pratt. Prudence worked at Montgomery General Hospital for 44 years, retiring in 1986. She was a lifelong Christian and involved in many church activities and volunteer work. She was a talented singer and loved music and the arts. She attended West Virginia Institute of Technology, majoring in music, an d was active in many music performances there and throughout the Upper Kanawha Valley. Family and friends remember Prudence's kind demeanor and ready smile as well as her devotion to service and giving. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Helen Hall Kemper. Surviving: her daughter, Sharon of Barboursville; beloved friend, Martha J. Persinger of Barboursville; a sister, Bonnie Hall Peebles of Bellbrook, Ohio; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell and Peggy Duncan of Ravenswood , John and Jean Lake of Fairfield, Ohio, Kenneth and Alberta Lake of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Okey and Louise Russell of Handley and Jean Stevens of Sweetser, Ind.; 14 nieces and nephews; special friends, David Costelli, Betty Hill, and Anna Mae McCallister; and her extended family, the residents and staff of the Extended Care Unit of Montgomery General Hospital. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 4 at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, from 12 to 1 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating.
