THE MORNING JOURNAL LORAIN, OHIO TUES. NOV. 12, 2002 Ralph C. Lake Elyria - Ralph C. Lake, 76, of Elyria, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness. He was born in 1926 in Richwood, W. Va. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II in the Pacific theatre of operations and on Okinawa. Lake was employed as a welder and instructor at American Ship Building Co. in Lorain for 32 years. He later worked for several years as a security guard in Lorain County. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1662, Amherst, and Amvets Post 32 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both in Elyria. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Survivors include his companion of 21 years, Darla J. Holtzman; sons Wayne and Marc Lake, both of California; sister, Ruther Davis of Grafton' and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Ralph C. Lake Jr.; and seven brothers, four sisters and his parents, James E. and Sarah (nee Alkire) Lake. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 p.m. until time of service at 8:30 p.m. at Busch-Curtis-Scheuffler Family Chapel, 114 Second St., Elyria. Chaplain Bill Tumbleson of New Life Hospice will officiate.
