GROSSE POINTE NEWS GROSSE POINTE, MICHIGAN January 13, 2000 OBITUARIES Robert Chandler Lake, M.D. Former Grosse Pointe Farms resident Robert Chandler Lake, M.D., of Pleasant Hill, Tenn., died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999. He was 79. Dr. Lake was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle and Northwestern University in Chicago where he received his doctorate degree. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit following his naval duties. He practiced in the Detroit area for 40 years before retiring to Tennessee. He was a member of Uplands Retirement Community, worked at the Crab Orchard Clinic for several years as well as Wharton Nursing Home where he continued on staff until his death. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Eleanor; three daughters, Linda McCall, Rebecca Schmitt and Janet Miller; two sons, Robert and James; a sister, Doris Morgan; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service for Dr. Lake was held Sunday, Jan. 9 at Pleasant Hill Community Church in Pleasant Hill. Memorial contributions may be sent to Wharton Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, P.O.
