ROBERT DOUGLASS LAKE June 8, 1915 - March 25, 2005 Bob went to his eternal rest on Good Friday. He was born in Library, PA son of Lois Edith and Samuel McGogney Lake, but was raised in Oakmont, PA by his aunt and uncle after the untimely death of his parents. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorraine Carey Lake. They were married December 8, 1939 and made their home in Oakmont. Bob was a graduate of Oakmont HS class of 1932 and went on to Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA where he graduated with a B. S. in Mathematics in 1936. Bob is also survived by his children Lois L. Ammerman of Rockdale, TX, Robert S. Lake of Acworth, GA and Thomas F. Lake of Cameron, TX. He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bob was a loving and attentive husband, father and grandfather. He served his community and church in various offices including Elder in the Cross Roads Presbyterian Church Monroeville, PA, Gateway High School Board member, Westminster College Board of Trustees. He was a member of Oakmont Presbyterian Church. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Oakmont Country Club, having been honored with a 'lifetime' membership in 1990. Bob was the former owner of Valley Heights public golf course. That property eventually became the Longwood Community where he and his wife have resided since 2000. Bob's working career began at Pittsburgh Plate Glass as an Industrial Engineer, and prior to his retirement in 1977 had been elected Vice President of the Bessemer Railroad and several subsidiaries.
