The Capital; Annapolis MD; 2010-6-21 Robert Lake Robert James Lake, 72, of Annapolis, died peacefully at his home June 18, after a five-year illness. Born Sept. 28, 1937, he was the son of Amos and Bertha Lake. He grew up in Bensalem, Pa., where he graduated from Bensalem High School in 1955 and was inducted into their Hall of Fame for basketball and football. He also attended Millersville College. Robert (Bob) was a fan of all sports and an avid follower of the Philadelphia Eagles. He had a great love of fishing, having spent many years on the water. His other interests included deep sea fishing, playing cards, and he had a great love of all animals. Robert was a builder, both of homes and developments, in Anne Arundel County for 35 years, and until his illness owned a commercial roof drain business. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Murphy-Lake of Annapolis; two sisters, Bertha Entwisle of Langhorne, Pa., and Edith Puccio of Leesburg, Va.; former wife, Frances Bender-O'Keefe; three sons, Robert Lake of Dagsboro, Del., Matthew Murphy of Annapolis and Benjamin Murphy of Washington, D.C.; three daughters, Kathleen Gerry of Annapolis, twins Lisa Rogers of Bel Air and Linda Gibbs of Crofton; grandchildren, Ryan, Courtney, Nicole, Christen, Shannon, Jessica, Michael and Zachary; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27 at Heritage Baptist Church, Forest Drive, Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any of the following: Hospice of the Chesapeake, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), or University of Maryland Department School of Medicine Department of Neurology (Maryland Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center) for research purposes.
