The Journal-News (Hamilton OH) Wednesday, January 14, 1998, Page A5 Rosa Rawlins Rosa Rawlins, age 87, formerly of 5023 Wayne Milford Rd., Hamilton, Ohio, passed away at Westover Retirement Community, Monday, January 12, 1998 at 10:40 p.m. She was born in Station Camp, Kentucky, the daughter of Louis and Syntha (Isaacs) Lakes. In Hamilton, she was married to Floyd Rawlins and he preceded her in death in 1983. She spent many happy hours quilting with her friends at Senior Citizens and Immanual Baptist Church. She resided in Overpeck and was the owner/operator, with her husband, Floyd, of a small grocery store where she was the Postmistress of Overpeck from 1936 until 1945. She and Floyd spent over 30 years going to Florida and later spending their winters in Bradenton, Florida. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis and her husband, Eldon Letsche, and Anna Bernice and her husband, Robert Spaulding., both of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Steve Spaulding, Debbie Bradner (Jack Conrad), John (Tina) Letsche and Lee Anne (Tony) Baker, Bradley Letsche and Amy Letsche; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Alfred, James, Vincent, Walker, Gentry, William and Homer; by two sisters, Della Lakes and Maggie Adams. Funeral services will be held at The Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Edwin Beck, Chaplin of Westover Retirement Community, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the staff and care givers of Westover for their kindness and loving care and especially to Dr. Chad Dunkle for his care over the years for our mother.
