Journal News; Hamilton OH; 1997-12-8 The Journal-News (Hamilton OH) Monday, December 8, 1997, Page A4 Ruby May Lowes, age 82, formerly of Oxford, died Friday, December 5, 1997 in Erie, Pennsylvania where she has lived for the past four years. She was born in Scipio, Indiana on January 11, 1915 the daughter of Harry V. and Maude (Smith) Lake andwas a graduate of Stewart High School in Oxford, Ohio. On November 26, 1936 she married Walter "Pat" Lowes and the lived in Oxford all their married lives. Mr. Lowes died November 19, 1991. She was aloving wife and a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked five years at the Miami University Health Center as a housekeeper. She was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church and of the King's Daughters and Sons of Oxford. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. C. (Sara) Wilson, Mill Spring, North Carolina and Mrs. William (Emily) Gardner, Erie, Pennsylvania with whom she lived since 1993; one son, William and his wife, Betty, Indianaoplis; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Lake and his wife Audrey, Oxford; and nieces and nephews. She was preced by her husband; a son, Walter and a daughter, Wilda, both dying shortly after birth; two brothers, Ivan and Chester; and two sisters, Bertha Grand and Elsie Lake. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 1997 at Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 101 West Church St., Oxford, with burial in Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Presbyterian Church.
