Joplin Globe; Joplin MO; 2003-5-30 Ruth A. Grissom Ruth A. Grissom, age 61, of Joplin, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at a local hospital. She was born Oct. 29, 1941 in Topeka, Kan., daughter of the late LeRoy C. and Lena E. Newton Lake. She grew up in Topeka and attended Topeka Schools. She moved to Joplin in 1956 and married "Bob" Grissom on Feb. 28, 1961 in Joplin. Ruth was a homemaker and a Baptist. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy W. Lake and Francis Lake; two sisters, Shirley D. Berry and Beth Ann Lake; and one grandchild, Joshua. She is survived by her husband, Bob Grissom, of Joplin; four sons, Joseph Robert Grissom and his wife, Stacey, of Springfield, Mo., Charles Keith Grissom and his wife, Terri, Robin Lee Grissom and John Russell Grissom and his wife, Janet, all of Joplin; two daughters, Cynthia Grissom Wells, of Osage City, Kan., and Teresa Grissom, of Joplin; five brothers, Ronald D. Lake, Daryl G. Lake and Michael Lake, all of Topeka, Kan., Harold E. Lake, of Carbondale, Kan., and Steven D. Lake, of Rockford, Ill.; four sisters, Doris M. Baker and Sharon R. Coffman, both of Topeka, Loretta "Rita" Hendricks, of Joplin, and Marilyn V. Turnage, of Greenfield, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Sandy, Toshia, Carl, Dale, Christopher, Daniel, Jessica, Jerrica and Stephanie; one great-grandchild, Ashlee; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 11 a.m., at Fairview Cemetery, officiated by family members. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
