Idaho Statesman; Boise ID; 2000-4-2 Ruth Leona Hendry, 88, of Nampa, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Thursday, March 30, 2000, 13 days after the death of her husband Bud. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the Cloverdale Funeral Home. Emerald Court #4 of Mountain Home will conduct Amaranth services. Interment will be held at Cloverdale Memorial Park, Boise. Services are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home, Boise. Ruth was born Feb. 2, 1912, at Soda Springs, Idaho, the fifth of 15 children born to Vance T. and Annie Nelson Lakey. The family moved to Hunte4rs, Wash. when she was eight years old. Ruth graduated from Hunters High School in 1932. She returned to Idaho in 1932, residing in Boise where she attended Boise Business College for two years. She spent two yeaqrs transcribing books for Vardis Fisher and working for several state officials. On July 4, 1932, Ruth met Bud, the love of her life for 68 years. Ruth and Bud were married Feb. 10, 1935, at Boise. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in February of this year. Ruth worked for 20 years in various capacities for the Nampa School District hot lunch program. She was a member of Nampa Chapter #30, OES; Ladies Oriental Shrine; and Emerald Court #4, Order of Amaraanth. She served as grand royal matron to Grand Court of Idaho. Ruth is survived by daughter, Merrilyn King and husband, Dennis of Nampa; dauther, Beverly of Boise; grandchildren, Tammy Shields and husband, Ken of Nampa, Tim King of Boise, Jeffrey King and wife, Amy of Meridian; great grandchildren, Zach Shields and wife, Brandi of Middleton, Canadaa Shields of Nampa, Tilynn King of Depoe Bay, Ore., Tia King of Oregon, Vanessa and Grace King of Meridian; and her adopted grandson, Nathan Elliott of Boise; three brothers, Floyd Lakey of Salem, Ore, Frank Lakey and wife Dot of Nampa, and Wallace Lakey and wife, Lois of Boise; a sister-in-law Eunice Lakey of Weiser; a brother-in-law, Leon McGinnis of San Antonio, Texas, and brother-in-law Dale Hendry and wife, Jan of Boise; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Her husband, parents, seven brothers, four sisters, a son and one grandson preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to MSTI West - Medical Oncology Unit, 308 E. Hawaii, Nampa 83686.
