Published in the Advocate on June 10, 2016 Newark, OH NEWARK: Ruth Mary Lake, 84, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of Toboso, Ohio passed away Wednesday morning, June 8, 2016 at Arlington Care Center in Newark. Born June 20, 1931 in Anderson, Indiana she was a daughter of the late David Kenneth and Edith (Bline) Varner and was a 1948 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. Mrs. Lake was a homemaker and an employee of Gault's Grocery in Toboso. She was Methodist by faith. Her greatest enjoyment was attending the activities of her sons, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Surviving is her loving husband of 67 years, James W. Lake, whom she married January 29, 1949; three sons and daughters in-law, Richard L. and Marilee Lake of Tipp City, Ohio, Rodney H. and Patricia Lake of Buckeye Lake, Ohio and Douglas S. and Jennifer Lake of Newark; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Tom) Evans, Corey (Courtney) Lake, Scotty (Elizabeth) Lake, Lauren (Brandon Wilson) Lake, Tanner Lake, Ryan Lake and Connor Lake; five great grandchildren, Cannon, Addison, Avery, Sidney and Bennett and one great grandchild on the way. Also surviving is a brother and sister in-law, Kenneth E. and Sue Varner of Elkview, West Virginia. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Murray. Ruth Mary's family wishes to give a very special "thank you" to the staff of Brookdale Newark and of Arlington Care Center for their wonderful care and love. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services are being planned for a later date.
