Hendersonville Times-News (online edition) Hendersonville, NC April 9, 2004 Ruth Robbins, 77 Ruth Virginia Lakey Robbins, 77, of Bryson City died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Allens House. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley and Juanita Welch Lakey. She was an employee of Mountain View Manor Nursing Home for 17 years, and also was a private sitter with the elderly. She also loved to bake rum cakes for various charities and churches and social functions. She was a member of Dan Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, James Robbins; a granddaughter, Sabrina Sutton; a sister, Lorene King; and a nephew, Terry Raby. She is survived by Norma Sutton and Gary Hoxit of Hendersonville; Vivian and Ronnie Thompson of Bryson City; Delores Schettini and Samuel Maney of Sevierville, Tenn.; a son, Clifton Robbins and Brenda of Hendersonville; three sisters, Doris Raby of Franklin, Katherine Nordling of Fletcher, and Pearlene Allen of Bryson City; a brother, Josheph Lakey of Bryson City; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. The Rev. Eddie Dietz officiated. Burial was in Truett Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Sutton, Jeff Robbins, Josh Robbins, Daryl DeHart, J.C. King III and Joe Lakey. Scott Harris was an honorary pallbearer.
