Wisconsin State Journal Madison WI 30 Aug 2005 Gilbert, Sadie F. - MADISON - Sadie F. Gilbert, age 87, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. She was born on May 13, 1918, in Madison, the daughter of Roland and Mabel (Padfield) Lake. Sadie was united in marriage to Edward Gilbert in a double wedding ceremony on Aug. 15, 1935, in McFarland. She was a lifelong resident of Madison. Sadie was a charter member of Lake Edge UCC, Madison. She was a longtime employee of Research Products of Madison, retiring after 27 years of service. She was involved with the Senior Coalition of Madison for many years. Grandma always had a cookie for any visitor and especially took care of her grandchildren. Sadie loved to play cards, bingo, crafts and in her "younger years" dance (she met her husband at a dance). She will be missed and mourned by her beloved family including her children, Beverly (Patrick) Boyson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Donna (Gehrke) Horsfall, twin sons, Edward C. Gilbert and Eugene (Barbara) Gilbert, all of Madison, and Jerry (Sandy) Gilbert of DeForest; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Ida Mae Fogle of Waunakee; sister-in-law, Lillian Vinje of Madison; her special friend, Inez Moore; her good neighbor that help take care of things around Sadie's home, Marv LaBelle; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at 1 p.m., at LAKE EDGE - UCC, 4200 Buckeye Road, Madison, with the Rev. David J. Michael officiating. Burial will be held in Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison, and on Wednesday at the church from noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
