A celebration of the life of Sandra Susan "Sandy" (Lake) Willey, age 49, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 28, at the Newark Chapel of HENDERSON-Van ATTA-STICKLE FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE with Rev. Leslie Lake officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Sandy passed away Tuesday morning, August 25, 2009, following a courageous eight month battle with cancer, with her previous husband, Jeff Willey, at her side. Sandy was born March 6, 1960 in Newark, Oh. to the late Bill and Janet (Macy) Lake. Sandy was a 1978 graduate of Newark High School. Sandy was a life-long Dodgers baseball fan and loved sports, but the Dodgers were her passion. She was an avid bowler and member of the WIBC and bowled in many leagues in and around the Newark area for a number of years. Sandy's highest game was a "298". Sandy is survived by three sons, Jeremy Willey and friend, Nauelo Tapalava and Tyler (Nova) Willey, all of Newark, and Trever (Leslie) Willey of Pickerington; her beloved grandchildren, Katelyn Adkins, Sidney, Gallaunt her "Little Man", Neela and Sabrina Willey. Sandy is also survived by her brothers, Gary (Debbie) Lake of Wadsworth, Bob (Leslie) Lake of Orrville and Doug (Melissa) Lake of Columbus. Sandy also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many beloved friends, who were a great support in her journey as well as in her final days. Sandy wished to express her heartfelt thanks to her previous husband and dear friend, Jeff Willey, and his wife, Mindy, for all their support and care over the past few months. Her extended family also wishes to express their gratitude for the devotion shown Sandy.
