Arkansas Gazette; Littlerock AR; 2007-2-3 WYNNE - Sarah Jeanette Lake died peacefully on February 1, 2007, in Wynne. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 1, 1927, to Robert M. Lake and Eda Cunningham Lake. She had lived in Parkin, Arkansas, her entire life. She was a 1945 graduate of Parkin High School. She then attended the Carlson School in Pompano Beach, Florida, for two years. Through the years, she always enjoyed renewing friendships at the Parkin High School Class reunions. She had been a charter member of the Parkin Hi Hoe Garden Club and was a current member of the Parkin Garden Club. She especially liked growing flowers and arranging them in floral designs. In 1990, she was honored by the Parkin Garden Club with a commendation for her long time service as a member. She was a dedicated member of the Parkin United Methodist Church. Before her illness, she faithfully attended Sunday School and Worship Services. She had been a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a founding member of the Parkin Archeological Support Team (PAST) of the Parkin Archeological State Park. One of her favorite hobbies was playing bridge and had belonged to several clubs. She enjoyed traveling, participating in community activities and being with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother-in-law, Simon "Bill" Slabaugh. She is survived by a sister, Eda Claire Slabaugh of Parkin, Arkansas; a niece, Renee Clark and husband Jackie of Wynne; a niece, Rachele Shea and husband Greg of Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas; greatnephew, Martin Shea; and two greatnieces, Kallyn Shea and Claire Clark. Her devout faith, strong determination, positive attitude and ready smile made her an inspiration in her church, community and with her family and friends. Services will be held at Parkin First United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007, with Rev. Charolette Staggs and Rev. Tony Hill officiating. Visitation will be held at Kernodle Funeral Home, Friday, February 2, 2007, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family request memorials be made to the Parkin First United Methodist Church, P.O.
