Wash DC Post; Washington DC; 2000-7-11 Sheri K. Lake Interior Designer Sheri K. Lake, 50, who had owned METROSPACE, an award-winning Falls Church interior design firm, for the last decade, died of ovarian cancer July 1 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. She lived in Arlington. Mrs. Lake, who had worked in interior design in the Washington area since the 1980s, was a fellow and past chapter president of the American Society of Interior Designers. She was a leader in the four-year renovation of ASID's national headquarters in Washington. She also had served as chapter president of the International Furnishings and Design Association and was an associate member of the Virginia Building and Code Officials Association. Over the years, she had served on the board of the Washington Architectural Foundation, was a member of the curriculum advisory board at Northern Virginia Community College, and had been a technical professional adviser to Marymount University. Mrs. Lake, who came to the Washington area in 1972, was an Iowa native. She received an associate's degree in architecture from Northern Virginia Community College and was a graduate of the old International Institute of Interior Design in Washington. Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Gary, of Arlington; her parents, Gordon and Beverly Hutchinson of Tucson; and three brothers.
