TOPEKA (KS) -- Shirley D BERRY, 63, Topeka, died Friday, July 19, 1996,
at a Topeka hospital.  Mrs Berry was a waitress and had worked at Have
A Snack Cafe.

She was born Jan 4, 1933, at Topeka, the daughter of LeRoy C and Lena
E NEWTON LAKE.  She lived most her life in Topeka.

She married Alvin F BERRY on Oct 6, 1952, in Topeka.  He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Billy Van CLEAVE, Williamsburg, VA and
Jimmy Van CLEAVE, Seattle; three daughters, Ida WALKER, Elizabeth, NJ,
Cindy SPIVEY, North Little Rock, AR, and Diana Lynn Van CLEAVE, Willits,
CA; her mother, Leona E LAKE, Topeka; five brothers, Ronald D LAKE,
Daryl G LAKE, Michael A LAKE, all of Topeka, Harold E LAKE, Carbondale
(KS), and Steven D LAKE, Rockford, IL; five sisters, Doris BAKER and
Sharon COFFMAN, both of Topeka, Rita M HENDRICKS, Harvard, IL, Marilyn
TURNAGE, Ave, NC, and Ruth GRISSOM, Joplin, MO; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Wednesday.  Davidson Funeral Home in charge
of services.
