ANCHORAGE DAILY NEWS - SEPTEMBER 16, 2003 Anchorage AK Steven Lake, 55 Anchorage resident Steven Dale Lake, 55, died Sept. 7, 2003, at Providence Extended Care Center. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 2311 Pembrook Drive, with the Rev. Karen Lipinczyk officiating. A second service will be Oct. 19 in Shelby, Ohio. Mr. Lake was born Feb. 27, 1948, in Ohio and served in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1970. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, N.Y., he earned a degree in 1972 in hotel management and culinary arts. He became an Alaska resident in November 1992. He worked with Szaebo Foods and The Pub in New Haven, Conn., and Doyon Corp. in Anchorage. Mr. Lake enjoyed gourmet cooking and was an avid reader. He also organized and supported numerous benefits for the cure of AIDS and its victims. He was a member of Metropolitan Community Church. Mr. Lake is survived by his mother, Reatha Lake of Shelby; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Theresa Lake of Shannon, Ill.; nephew and spouse, John and Nancy Lake of Riverview, Fla.; and cousins and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Lake; and brother, Jeffrey Lake. Memorial bequests are suggested to Alaskan AIDS Assistance Association, 1057 W. Fireweed Lane, No. 102, Anchorage 99503. Arrangements were with Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
