The Union-Bulletin Walla Walla, Washington Wednesday, January 13, 2010 In Loving Memory Susan Teague Lake Sept. 20, 1927 - January 6, 2010 Susan Teague Lake, 82, of 2336 Wainwight Place, died January 6, 2010 at Providence St Mary Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at St Paul's Episcopal Church on Friday, January 15, at 4 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St Paul's Epliscopal Church, Fort Walla Walla Museum, Good Samaritan Ministries or the charity of your choice through the Herring Groseclose Funerald Home. Susan was born September 20, 1927 in Eugene, Oregon to Wilker "Bill" and Marjorie Hughes Teague. They moved to Walla Walla in 1938 where Susan attended local area schools, however she graduated High School from Oregon Episcopal Schools in Portland, Oregon. She met William Lake while attending Whitman College. They marred September 25, 1949. Susan was a member of the Delta Gama Sorority and also worked at the college at the Conservatory of Music. Susan was active in the Little Theater, primarily producing and directing plays. She worked with Girl Scouts, Campfire Girls and was a den mother in Cub Scouts. Susan volunteered with Head Start she was a program chairman for area GOP women, a councelor for the AYUSA exchange program and belonged to Junior Club and PEO. More important that what Susan did is who she was. She was a person with great compassion and a listening ear for thoes who were hurting. She would know the difficult stroies of people she met and she would carry concerm for them. Susan loved most of all her times at the beach with her family. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William Lake, a sister, Elaine Brownell, a daughter, Shela Hair and son, Charles "Chip" Lake, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, William Teague Lake, her niece, Katy Brownell; and her nephew, Bruce Brownell.
