Grup, 71, of County Route 16, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in Bassett Healthcare Cooperstown. She was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Gloversville, a daughter of the late Harold and Patricia Andrews Lake. Susan was raised and educated in Johnstown. On Dec. 31, 1949, she married William Grup in Englewood, Colo. She and her husband have resided in Hartwick since 1961, coming from Ilion. For 13 years, Susan had worked as a billing clerk in Bassett Healthcare Cooperstown, retiring in 1990. She was a member and past matron of the Richfield Springs Arbutus Chapter 417 OES. During her leisure time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family. Surviving are her husband of 50 years William; one son, William and his wife Laura Grup of Richfield Springs; two daughters, Sharon and Alan Dutton of Cooperstown and Theresa and George Schweitzer of Felton, Pa.; a brother, Harold Lake of Ephratah; a sister, MaryElla Godemann of Otter Lake; five grandchildren, Lindsey and Neil Dutton, Kristen and Kyle Grup and Patrick Schweitzer. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Suzanne Grup in 1956. Funeral service and interment will be private. There are no calling hours.
